Oman Participates in Arab Economic Meeting in Cairo


Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 115th regular session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council, which was held at the Arab League (AL) headquarters in Cairo today. Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy.



According to Oman News Agency, the meeting discussed a report filed by the AL Secretary General on joint Arab economic and social action. It also studied preparations for the economic and social portfolio to be debated at the upcoming Arab League’s 34th Summit, scheduled to be held in the Republic of Iraq.



The meeting also looked into developments in the Greater Arab Free Trade Zone and the Arab Customs Union. Discussions further explored means of expanding the scope of the Intra-Arab Investment Agreement and the Articles of Association of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, among other economic topics.
