Algerian Civil Defence (ACD) announced a series of forest fires across six states on the east side of the country on Saturday, leading to evacuationof tens of families from villages around the fire zones.

The ACD, in a statement, said fire fighters were still fighting the fires in many forests.

The Algerian Justice Department holds 12 people in custody because they were involved in the forest fire last July 23-24 and killed 34 people of them 10 were soldiers, and many more were injured.
