The Eiffel Tower in central Paris was evacuated for several hours on Saturday due to a security alert.
The threat prompted the evacuation of the three floors of the tower, as well as the courtyard, a French police source was quoted by France 24 as saying.
“It’s a usual procedure in this kind of situation, which is rare nevertheless,” a spokesperson for SETE, the operating company for the Eiffel Tower, said.
It has now reopened again to the public.
As many as seven million people reportedly visit the Paris tourist attraction annually.
