Shura Council Engages in GCC Parliamentary Meeting in Bahrain

Manama: A delegation from the Shura Council participated today in the 22nd meeting of the Parliamentary Coordination and Foreign Relations Committee, with representatives from the legislative councils of the GCC states in attendance in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting addressed joint Gulf issues and explored enhancing cooperation between the legislative councils of the GCC States and the European Parliament. Strategies to increase the momentum of Gulf parliamentary cooperation with parliaments worldwide were also discussed. Furthermore, participants reviewed the draft agenda and final statement for the 19th periodic meeting of the Speakers and Chairmen of the Shura, Representatives, National, and National Assembly Councils of the GCC States.

The Shura Council delegation included Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, along with council members Khamis bin Hamdan Al Ghafri, Sultan bin Humaid Al Hoasni, Dr. Talal bin Said Al Mahraibi, Abdulaziz bin Hamdan Al Balushi, and Ali bin Muslim Ghawas.

This periodic meeting, held by the GCC legislative councils at the level of their heads, is part of the councils' efforts to support the process of joint Gulf parliamentary work. It aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the GCC legislative councils, contributing to unifying positions and visions regarding Gulf, Arab, and international issues, and supporting efforts for integration and legislative development in the member states.
