Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth today launched the 'Summer of Sports 2026' programme in the Governorate of Muscat. The programme, which lasts until 15 August, is implemented as part of the Ministry's efforts to make use of the summer vacation for school children and encourage them to practise sports as a way of life.
According to Oman News Agency, the programme, whose training centres will be held from 28 June to 29 July 2026, will offer a variety of sports activities designed to meet the needs of different age groups of school children.
This year, the programme provides swimming training for children aged 3 to 12 years at three specialized centres in Al Amerat, Al Hail, and Al Maabelah.
The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher will also house a variety of sports designed for school children, including football and badminton, in addition to sports programmes dedicated to people with disabilities coaches.
The programme also includes open days and community events like the "Summer Adventures" programme, which aims to help the school children explore the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, a sports caravan, and a skiing festival.
