State Council and Shura Council Deliberate on GCC Land Transport Law Disputes

Muscat: The State Council and Shura Council convened for their second joint session of the third regular annual sitting of the eighth term of the Council of Oman. This meeting focused on addressing items of dispute related to the draft law on the "Unified System for International Land Transport between GCC States." The session was presided over by Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council.

According to Oman News Agency, the joint session reviewed reports from the committees of both Councils concerning disagreements on the proposed legislation. The discussions also included deliberations on several draft laws referred by the Council of Ministers. These comprised the Draft Law Amending Certain Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law, the Draft Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, the Draft Law Amending Certain Provisions of the Penal Code, and the Draft Law Amending Certain Provisions of the Mineral Wealth Law.

The session saw the participation of Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, along with members from both the State Council and Shura Council. The Secretaries General of both Councils were also in attendance, contributing to the comprehensive examination of the legislative items on the agenda.
