Industry Ministry Supports Ceramic and Porcelain Sector Competitiveness

Khartoum: Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasin Ali Yagoub, affirmed the importance of the construction materials sector, particularly ceramic and porcelain industries, noting its key role in the current phase of reconstruction and rebuilding. This statement was made during her meeting with owners of ceramic and porcelain factories to review the challenges facing the sector and discuss future expansion and production plans.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister stressed the ministry's commitment to supporting ceramic and porcelain manufacturers to enhance their competitiveness in both local and international markets. She called for stronger coordination between the government and producers to back expansion plans and increase production capacity.

The Minister noted that the ceramic sector is among the industries relied upon for import substitution and for generating foreign currency for the national treasury. She reaffirmed continued efforts and integration between the public and private sectors to develop a clear vision that identifies production, expansion, and marketing opportunities in domestic markets.

She also reassured factory owners that current production capacities are sufficient to meet local demand, paving the way for a transition toward export-oriented production.
