Forest Fires Rage in Colombia Amid Severe Drought

Amid a drought affecting much of Latin America, Colombian authorities are battling forest fires across seven departments

The Colombian National Unit for Risk and Disaster Management reported that nearly 11,000 hectares (27,000 acres) have been consumed by flames.

Fires are concentrated in areas bordering Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil, all of which are experiencing similar challenges. In response, Colombia deployed eight aircraft to combat a fire in Nagataima, where two people sustained injuries.
