CAIRO, The Arab Parliament Thursday decried an Israeli occupation Knesset (parliament) decision that rejected the establishment of Palestinian statehood as a flagrant breach of relevant international resolutions. In a press release, the parliament underlined that the occupying entity should be aware that "no peace or stability in the region unless an independent Palestinian state is established", noting that 149 United Nations (UN) members have already recognized Palestine in a move that reflected a strong international will. It called on all international and regional parliaments to urge their countries, which have failed to recognize a Palestinian statehood, to take the step as soon as possible. The Cairo-based parliament also called for freezing the Knesset's membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and other international organizations in a bid to oblige the occupying entity to comply with international legitimacy resolutions and to accept the bi-state approach. Earlier in the day, the Israeli occu pation's Knesset (parliament) reportedly passed a resolution that overwhelmingly rejected the establishment of a Palestinian state.
