Genoa: Italian Serie A club Genoa have signed Omani midfielder Suhaib Al Kharusi to a three-year professional contract, the club announced. The deal was revealed alongside Genoa's plans to establish an academy in the Sultanate of Oman, aimed at developing young players' technical skills using the club's methodology under an Italian coaching staff working in direct coordination with Genoa's technical setup in Italy.
According to Oman News Agency, Al Kharusi progressed from the under-18 category to the youth team during the 2024-2025 season and went on to make 28 appearances in the Italian Primavera league. Al Kharusi expressed his commitment to his new role, stating, 'Signing this agreement with Genoa is an important step for me and a great honor. My focus now is on the future, on continuing to work hard and improve myself to help the team succeed.'
The establishment of the academy in Oman marks a significant step in Genoa's international outreach and player development strategy. The academy will provide local talents the opportunity to train and develop under experienced coaches, offering a pathway to professional football in Europe.
