The pentagon: The Pentagon has announced that the total cost of American-led military operations against Iran has risen to nearly $29 billion, an increase of $4 billion from estimates released in late April 2026.
According to Oman News Agency, the department attributed the sharp rise in expenditure mainly to the cost of maintaining and repairing military equipment, replacing damaged components, and higher operational expenses in the region.
Financial estimates are subject to continuous review by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the department's audit and financial oversight teams, it said.
US President Donald Trump's budget proposal for fiscal year 2027 allocates nearly $1.5 trillion for defense.
