Hopes Rise for US-Iran Peace Talks as Diplomatic Push Intensifies Before Ceasefire Deadline

Rabat: Hopes are mounting for a resumption of peace talks between the United States and Iran as diplomatic efforts intensify ahead of the ceasefire deadline. President Donald Trump said today that the war on Iran is very close to its end, adding that the Iranian regime is eager to sign an agreement. "I think it's just about over. Yes, I see it as very close to the end," Trump told Fox News. His comments come as American and Iranian negotiators are expected to resume peace talks in the coming days, following the collapse of last week's negotiations in Islamabad.

According to Oman News Agency, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is beginning a four-day diplomatic tour today that will include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Trkiye. The trip is part of Pakistan's sustained efforts to pave the way for a potential second round of US-Iran talks. Vice President JD Vance said in earlier remarks that Washington has made significant progress in its discussions with Tehran, raising the possibility of a deal to end the war in the Middle East.

Iran's state news agency IRNA quoted a diplomatic source on Tuesday as saying that the exchange of messages between Tehran and Islamabad on post-Islamabad talks developments is ongoing, and that Pakistan's determination to continue its mediation efforts remains firm.
