Muscat: The Industry Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) convened for its second meeting in 2025 to address the implications of electricity and gas pricing on production costs in the industrial sector. The discussion highlighted the effects on the competitiveness of Omani products and industries.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Tawfiq Abdulhussein Al Lawati, Chairman of the Industry Committee at OCCI. It included committee members and representatives from relevant authorities at the Chamber's headquarters in Muscat. A proposal was reviewed concerning the business environment in the industrial sector, focusing on incentives provided in special and free economic zones and a review of fees aligned with industrial development goals.
The meeting underscored the necessity of offering financing facilities and tax exemptions for investors engaged in renewable energy projects. This initiative aims to lower costs and promote sustainability within the industrial sector.
