Treasury Bills serve as short-term, highly secured financial instruments issued by the Ministry of Finance, aimed at providing licensed commercial banks the opportunity to invest surplus funds. Managed by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), these instruments offer added liquidity through discounting and repurchase facilities (Repo). The interest rate on Repo operations with CBO is set at 5.00%, while the Treasury Bills Discounting Facility has a rate of 5.50%.

These Treasury Bills play a crucial role in promoting the local money market by establishing a benchmark yield curve for short-term interest rates. Additionally, they offer the government a tool for financing recurrent expenditures as needed.
