Yassin representing Mikati at “Young Leaders Forum” at LAU – Byblos: Environment Ministry is committed to involving the youth in its programs


Prime Minister Najib Mikati, represented by caretaker Environment Minister Nasser Yassin, patronized on Saturday the “National Forum for Young Leaders” held at the Lebanese American University’s Byblos Campus, at the invitation of the “United Nations Development Program” and the “International Affairs Services Center” at the University, with the participation of the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Lebanon, Blerta Aliko, the Vice President for Business Development and Global Affairs at the University, Elie Badr, and more than 400 young men and women from various Lebanese regions.

In his delivered word at the Forum, Minister Yassin said: ‘In celebration of ten years of the Young Leaders Program coordinated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in cooperation with the Lebanese American University (LAU), I was honored to represent the Prime Minister, and I learned abou
t the distinguished youth projects and initiatives on several issues that are very important to society, the environment and the economy in Lebanon.’

Yassin added, ‘I emphasize the Ministry of Environment’s commitment to involving the youth in many of its programs and projects, such as involving young negotiators in international conferences on climate change, and working towards enhancing environmental governance and initiatives to sort at the source and reforestation.’
