Gaza: The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a serious deterioration in health conditions in the Gaza Strip, in light of the stifling blockade imposed on the Strip for nearly two months, and the denial of humanitarian and medical aid access. WHO spokesperson, Margaret Harris, highlighted the catastrophic health situation, noting that health risks are worsening daily due to a shortage of basic supplies.

According to Oman News Agency, Harris emphasized that Palestinians in Gaza are deprived of the necessities of life, including food, clean water, and shelter, along with limited access to healthcare. She pointed out that fear has gripped the population, with many avoiding hospitals due to being targeted.

Harris described the dire situation faced by doctors and nurses, who are struggling to provide care without essential supplies like blood bags, intravenous infusion units, cotton swabs, and antibiotics. The critical shortage of these supplies is hampering the ability of health workers to treat the wounded effectively.

The WHO spokesperson explained that Gaza currently has 21 hospitals and four field hospitals, none of which have enough beds to meet the growing demand. Consequently, hospitals are often forced to discharge patients prematurely to accommodate new ones, exacerbating the crisis.

Harris warned, "This means health workers are deprived of everything. We are very close to the abyss, and that's why there is great danger."
