Visit of Oman’s Foreign Minister to the United States of America

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi is in Washington today for talks at the State Department. He leads an Omani delegation and will meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The Foreign Minister and the Secretary of State will review the success of recent cooperation on global, regional and bilateral issues and will make new plans within the framework of existing agreements between their two countries, such as the Free Trade Agreement of 2009, the science and technology agreement of 2016, and the Framework Agreement of 2019.

Their meeting also launches a new strategic dialogue between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America. The aims of this new dialogue are to build upon the strategic partnership between the two countries and to develop concrete new joint initiatives, with a special emphasis on realising both countries’ decarbonisation objectives.

This dialogue will involve senior officials and leading experts, in separate sessions, each devoted to key topics identified as priorities for bilateral cooperation: energy, investment and trade, culture and education.
