Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 4% to stand at 1,667,393 by the end of December 2023 compared to 1,660,803 by the end of December 2022, according to the data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Private registration vehicles constituted 79.6% of the total vehicles registered in Oman, to stand at 1,326,587.
Vehicles with a capacity of 1500-3000 cc constituted 54% to stand at 902,244.
Most vehicles come in the color ‘white’ (comprising 42.7%) to stand at 712,073. Meanwhile, vehicles in the color ‘purple’ registered the highest increase (21.6%), followed by the color ‘grey’ (10.9%).
Moreover, vehicles with commercial registration constituted 14.7% (244,486). Rental cars stood at 33,861 (2%), whole taxi cars stood at 27,881 (1.7%).
As far as vehicles weights are concerned, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tons stood 1,510,013, comprising 90.6% of the total registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman.
