Trump, Harris in tight race as elections nears – poll

A new poll in United Sates showed intense competition between the Republic candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic Rival Kamala Harris, who announced her candidacy on Sunday, following the withdrawal of the former candidate Joe Biden.

The poll, conducted by Marist Poll in collaboration with National Public Radio (NPR) and News Hour (PBS), indicating that 46 percent of registered voter support Trump, while 45 percent of voters support Harris. The survey was conducted on the 22nd of this month, which was the day after Harris announced her candidacy for the Democratic Party, as it included over 1,100 voters. Former president Trump became the official nominee for the Republican Party last week, while Harris has not yet been officially endorsed Democratic nominee, in spite of the fact that she has secured enough delegates to become the official candidate. The Democratic National Convention (DNC 2024) will held in Chicago on August 19, where the official nominee would be endorsed, however the party is expected t
o hold a virtual meeting before that to formally vote on Harris as their candidate.
