Tender Board Signs 6 contracts to supply office and printing computers to government units


The Secretariat General of the Tender Board today signed six framework contracts with a number of Omani companies to supply desktop computers, laptops and tablets to government departments in the Sultanate of Oman.

The step was aimed at streamlining purchasing services for clients, save time and effort and speed up response to the needs of government units.

The signing of the contracts was in line with Royal directives to focus on the goals of the local content policy. The overall objective was to localize industries, encourage entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups and contribute to the growth of local companies.

The recent contract signing was in pursuit of the success of the first initiative to purchase government vehicles through the use of the ‘Electronic Order Management System’, which provides procedural gains like automating and modelling purchase orders and unifying prices.

The Director of the Government Procurement Department (at the General Secretariat of
the Tender Board), Eng. Najat Ali Al Siyabi, said that the unified procurement process (‘Electronic Order Management System’) provides full automation, right from the start of the request until the issuance of the purchase order. She pointed out that the orders are processed in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.

Moaz bin Ahmed Al Hanaei, CEO of Ansar Technology-one of the local companies that signed the contracts-highlighted the significance of this initiative which, he said, fits with the firm’s plans to expand operations into regional and international markets, thereby consolidating the company’s competitive edge.
