Supreme Judiciary Council Reviews Tasks of Judiciary, Powers of Supreme Court


Muscat: Addressing a delegation from the National Defence College participating in the 12th National Defence Course, the Supreme Judiciary Council today elaborated on the roles and tasks of the judiciary and the powers of the Supreme Court.



According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Khalifa bin Said Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Supreme Court, delivered a speech in which he stressed that litigation is a protected and guaranteed right for all people and that the Omani judiciary enjoys complete independence and full and continuous support from the state. Sayyid Khalifa explained the role of the judiciary in preserving the security of the homeland and enhancing national security.



For his part, Issa Hamad Al Azri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Judiciary Council, gave a presentation on the development of the judiciary in the Sultanate of Oman in terms of laws and the structure of the judiciary. The event was attended by Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, and officials from the Supreme Judiciary Council.
