SQU Hospital Achieves Milestone with First Spinal Neurostimulation Device Implantation in Oman


Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) has performed Oman’s first implantation of a spinal neurostimulation device in the lower spine. This advanced procedure was aimed at addressing complex urinary disorders and was executed by Dr. Intisar Mohammed Al Hashmi, a Consultant Urologist in the Department of Surgery at SQUH, with the support of a comprehensive medical team in the University Medical City.



According to Oman News Agency, the surgery was carried out in two stages, following the latest international protocols. This achievement signifies a significant advancement in the specialized urology services available in the Sultanate of Oman.
