South Al Sharqiyah Municipality Reviews Developmental Initiatives for Regional Growth


South Al Sharqiyah: The Municipal Council of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate today held its 4th meeting for 2025 under the chairmanship of Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah and Chairman of the Council. The meeting focused on reviewing various developmental initiatives and service projects aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure and economic prospects.



According to Oman News Agency, the council discussed the proposed “Al Sharq Gateway” project, which aims to transform the governorate into a promising regional hub. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the local economy by attracting investment and fostering regional development. The project outlines plans for an integrated approach to infrastructure development, positioning South Al Sharqiyah as an attractive destination for businesses and tourists alike.



The council also examined a proposal to develop an integrated tourism waterfront along the coastal strip. This project is designed to enhance tourism infrastructure and support recreational and economic activities, leveraging the region’s natural beauty to attract visitors. By developing the waterfront, the governorate aims to provide more recreational opportunities and strengthen its appeal as a tourism destination.



Additionally, the meeting addressed a request to reconsider land usufruct allocations. The objective is to preserve the marine environment and natural resources while supporting sustainable ecotourism efforts. This initiative seeks to balance development with environmental conservation, enhancing the governorate’s position as a unique tourist destination that values ecological sustainability.
