The Somali army destroyed Al-Shabaab militants’ arms caches in a planned military operation in Budbud area in Galgadud region on Saturday, according to the country’s official news agency.
“The National Army’s Danab Commandos conducted special operations in Budbud area in the district of Ceeldheer in Galgadud region,” General of the 16th Brigade of the Army Abdullahi Nur was quoted by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) as saying.
“The soldiers destroyed areas where weapons and poisons are used to make explosions were stored,” he added.
He said the Somali army frequently conducts operations in southern and central provinces in order to eliminate Al-Shabaab militants.
