Oman: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the North Al Batinah Governorate, represented by the Food Security Committee, organized a seminar today titled "From Farm to Factory" under the slogan "A Sustainable Food Future." The event was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture.
According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Hamidi, Chairman of the Food Security Committee at the Chamber's branch in North Al Batinah, stated that the seminar stems from the committee's keenness to enhance integration between the agricultural and industrial sectors. It seeks to build sustainable partnerships between farmers and national factories in a manner that supports the food security system. He pointed out the importance of enhancing direct communication between producers and manufacturers, encouraging reliance on local products, and developing supply chains to achieve sustainability and efficiency.
He added that the symposium aims to create a direct communication platform between farm owners and procurement departments in food factories and to reduce reliance on imported raw materials by promoting the use of high-quality local products. Furthermore, it aims to provide a sustainable market for farmers that ensures their crops are marketed at fair prices while securing a stable flow of raw materials for factories. It also serves to introduce the required specifications and standards in the areas of quality, packaging, and supply.
