Muscat: The second edition of the forum titled "Impact of Scientific Research and its Academic Linkage with Society" commenced today at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Ibri branch. The event was held at Al Muhallab bin Abi Safra Hall under the auspices of Tahir Mabkhout Al Junaibi, Governor of A'Dhahirah, with the participation of more than 16 institutions from both the public and private sectors.
According to Oman News Agency, the forum aims to strengthen the partnership between academic institutions and the community, utilizing scientific research outputs to address economic and social challenges and transforming research ideas into applied solutions with tangible and sustainable impact. These efforts support the objectives of "Oman Vision 2040" in building an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
The program featured a technical demonstration of motion capture technology, along with a visual presentation highlighting prominent research achievements. It also included a session titled "Industrial Challenges," where researchers showcased innovative solutions to various societal challenges that the university is currently addressing through its ongoing research projects.
Furthermore, a roundtable discussion was conducted to examine the university's perception within the community, explore opportunities for joint cooperation, and outline future action plans. An accompanying exhibition provided attendees the opportunity to view research posters presented by participating researchers and patent models, in addition to pavilions for student startups and their applied products.
