A regional forum on the role of national institutions in human rights development kicked off in Salalah today. The forum, held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, will continue for two days. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The forum brings together 200 participants from more than 50 United Nations organizations, regional and international organizations, government departments and civil society institutions. The Forum aims to determine common priorities for institutions tasked with human rights implementation, harmonizing laws and legislation to suit human rights principles and upgrading the capabilities of human rights personnel.
