Real Sociedad Stuns Barcelona with 1-0 Victory at Reale Arena.

San Sebastián: Real Sociedad handed Barcelona their second defeat of the Liga season, triumphing 1-0 at the Reale Arena in a match defined by Take Kubo’s standout performance. The win for Imanol Alguacil’s side was marked by high intensity and strategic play, taking advantage of the absence of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

According to Oman News Agency, the Japanese international, Take Kubo, was central to Real Sociedad’s success, exhibiting quick decision-making and controlling the attack along the right flank. Despite Barcelona’s attempts to match the intensity, the absence of their key player, Yamal, was apparent. The home team’s pressure and the support from their fans created a formidable atmosphere, challenging Barcelona’s defense throughout the match.

Real Sociedad, who had only managed four points from a possible 18 at home prior to this fixture, demonstrated their potential against the league leaders. The match began with high energy, as Casadó thwarted an early scoring opportunity from Sucic, who was
set up by Kubo. Barcelona’s Raphinha responded with two wing attacks, signaling their intent. However, a goal by Flick, assisted by Lewandowski, was disallowed due to a marginal offside, as reported by Spanish MARCA newspaper.

Real Sociedad’s breakthrough came after half an hour when Sheraldo Becker capitalized on Sucic’s assist, beating goalkeeper Iñaki Peña with a precise shot. Although Barcelona struggled to regain control, Real Sociedad continued to press, with Kubo creating several opportunities. Oyarzabal missed a chance to double the lead, shooting wide despite an open goal.

In the second half, Barcelona introduced Dani Olmo in an attempt to change the game’s dynamics, yet Real Sociedad maintained their grip. Kubo provided another assist to Becker, who missed the target. Despite Barça’s efforts to equalize, Real Sociedad’s defense remained solid, with Remiro making crucial saves.

Imanol Alguacil’s strategic substitutions ensured that Real Sociedad’s intensity did not wane, as the team pushed for a s
econd goal. Barrenetxea and Kubo both had opportunities, but Barcelona’s defense held firm. The match concluded with a narrow but deserved victory for Real Sociedad, moving them closer to European competition qualification.
