Netherlands playmaker Xavi Simons has re-joined RB Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for a second season, the German Bundesliga club said today. The 21-year-old was a big hit for Leipzig last term, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists which helped him become a regular Dutch starter. "Xavi and RB Leipzig - it was a perfect match right from the start. He has quickly developed into a key player and one of the best players in the Bundesliga. Xavi has shown in many games and not least at Euro 2024 that he is a difference-maker," Leipzig's new managing director of sport Marcel Schäfer said in a statement. Bayern Munich and Manchester United had also been interested, but a guaranteed starting place in Leipzig was a big factor in him deciding to return to the Bundesliga. "Everything I hoped for from my move to Leipzig materialized," the player said. He added, "I found a great team right from the start, felt that everyone had complete trust in me and I was able to develop as a player and a person - RB Leipzig simply offers the perfect environment for that."
