Partnership Agreement Inked to Transfer Aircraft Engines Maintenance Technology

The Ministry of Finance, represented by the Partnership for Development (PFD) programme and in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, signed today a partnership agreement with Safran Group, a leading company in aerospace engineering, to implement projects that have economic and development returns and contribute towards modernization processes undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and Royal Army of Oman.

The agreement will also enhance national capacities in the military areas.

The agreement was signed by Nasser khamis Al Jashmi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of the Board of the Trustees of the PFD programme and Frederic Fourciangue, Vice President for Support at Safran Group. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Za’abi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence.

The agreement entails the establishment of an advanced maintenance workshop in the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), and training the concerned staff. The agreement also entails the provision of licenses required to maintain some of the helicopter engines.

Such projects serve the future prospects of Oman in terms of transferring military and civil manufacturing and maintenance technology. In addition to providing specialized and professional training in areas of manufacturing and maintenance.
