Muscat, As many as 52,892 have been vaccinated so far within the current drive being undertaken by the Ministries of Health and Education for immunization against coronavirus (Covid-19).
The proportion of the General Education Diploma (GED) students and the faculty supervising the GED exams in all governorates vaccinated so far stands at 70% of the total number estimated at 75,730.
Muscat Governorate had the largest number of vaccinated (13,588 or 80% of the target segment), followed by North Al Batinah Governorate (9,933 or 72% of the target segment) and A’Dakhiliyah Governorate (8,101 or 77% of the target segment).
The Ministry of Education has pointed out that the vaccination of students is optional for all segments and that parents have been notified accordingly. All student will be allowed to sit for the exams, irrespective of whether or not they took the vaccine, affirmed the Ministry. Yet, it advised all to get the vaccine to safeguard their health.
All countries plan to make Covid-19 vaccination a prerequisite to travelers’ entry to their lands, observed the Ministry, noting that students who obtain scholarship may require the vaccination to pursue their studies abroad.
