Over 49 Percent Completion Rate for Road Projects in A’Dakhiliyah

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is progressing with the design and construction of the Afari Ascent Road and the Al Siqari Village Road in the Wilayats of Samail and Izki in the A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. The projects have reached a completion rate of 49.6 percent, with a total investment of RO 4.596 million.

According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Mohammed Saif Al Mahmoudi, Engineering Business Developer at the Ministry, elaborated on the scope of the project, which includes designing and constructing the 3.2-kilometer-long Afari Ascent Road. This road serves as a crucial link between the Wilayats of Samail and Izki, connecting Sultan Thuwayni bin Said Road with Wadi Mahram Road. Al Mahmoudi emphasized the road’s significance in enhancing connectivity for the villages of Wadi Mahram, thereby reducing travel distances and improving traffic flow to the Wilayat centers.

He further stated that the project encompasses the construction of the Al Siqari Village Road in Samail, extending over 3 kilometers. This road connects Al Siqari village to the existing asphalt Wadi Andam Road and is being built to high engineering standards. It features two traffic lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, with additional asphalt and dirt shoulders for added safety and durability.

The project also includes essential infrastructure elements like culverts for rainwater drainage and wadi crossings to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow, regardless of weather conditions. Additionally, traffic safety measures such as metal and concrete barriers, directional signs, and road markings are being implemented, along with the relocation and protection of intersecting service lines.
