Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister Urges Accountability for Israel’s Actions

Doha: Omans Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, affirmed today that the security of the State of Qatar is part of the security of the entire Gulf, and part of the security of the Arab and Islamic nation, stressing the need to take action at the United Nations, the Security Council and the General Assembly to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, in a speech delivered on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, His Highness said, “The treacherous attack on the sisterly State of Qatar clearly reveals the seriousness of the phase we are experiencing and the expansion of the circle of war waged by Israel in our region, disregarding international law, international legitimacy, or the sanctity of innocent blood.”

He noted that targeting the State of Qatar, one of the most prominent countries making continuous efforts to calm the situation and revive the peace process in Palestine, only distances the region further from the noble goal sought: a just and comprehensive peace that achieves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

He added that the Sultanate of Oman believes that the international community’s silence in the face of these violations fuels impunity and encourages further aggression. He called for this to be the beginning of a serious and unified effort that translates Arab and Islamic solidarity into clear positions and effective pressure to end the occupation, halt the attacks, and restore respect for international legitimacy resolutions.

His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, concluded his speech by saying, “Our meeting today is held to affirm that our Arab and Islamic nations are capable of facing challenges if they unite,” emphasizing that unity of ranks is the best way to safeguard the future of their peoples and protect their homelands.
