Abu dhabi: The equestrian scene in the Sultanate of Oman has seen remarkable growth in recent years, fuelled by the passion of Omani youth and their deepening connection to this authentic heritage. Horse riding has earned a special place among young Omanis, who embrace it as an expression of cultural identity and a link to their ancestors’ legacy.
According to Oman News Agency, among them is trainer Ibrahim bin Zaher Al Hadhrami, who began his training career in 2001 and devoted himself full-time to equestrian sports in 2013. Since then, he has achieved numerous milestones, most notably guiding “Heros de Lagarde” to victory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President’s Cup for the 2024-2025 season, while also claiming the title of Best Horse in the UAE for 2023-2024. He has also been named Best Trainer on multiple occasions.
Al Hadhrami has now added a historic achievement to Oman’s equestrian record, being crowned the Most Winning Trainer at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club Racecourse for the 2025-2026 season. He also finished first at the Al Ain Equestrian Club, earned the Best Results for Purebred Arabian Horses across the UAE, and secured runner-up in the overall ranking across all categories in the country.
The quadruple crown of four titles underscores Al Hadhrami’s consistent and rising performance on the international stage, as well as his distinguished representation of the Sultanate of Oman and Omani sport as a whole.
Speaking to the Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Hadhrami said: “This achievement is not personal; it is the result of hard work and great collaboration with the team. It motivates me to continue striving for more success and to raise Oman’s flag at international events. We are preparing strongly for the coming season to secure new titles.”
He added: “What we have achieved is just the beginning of the road. We aspire to reach the podium at the world’s biggest races, and we are working hard to develop a new generation of champions capable of lifting Oman’s name high in the world of equestrian sport.”
The quadruple crown adds to a rich list of accomplishments by Al Hadhrami on UAE and international racecourses, ensuring his name remains synonymous with excellence and creativity in the sport.
