Oman Takes Part in 82nd Meeting of GCC Committee for Central Bank Governors


Doha: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) participated today in the 82nd meeting of the GCC Committee for Central Bank Governors in Doha, Qatar.

Oman’s delegation was led by Tahir Salim Al Amri, CBO Executive President.

The meeting addressed several key areas including regulation of the banking sector, payment systems, financial technology (FinTech), and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) in the GCC.

Discussions also covered developments in the GCC’s joint action framework, plans to improve the banking system for GCC citizens and institutions, and updates in anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), and cybersecurity within the banking sector.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the General Secretariat’s report on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting, updates on the agreement for connecting payment systems in the GCC, and other financial and banking topics on the agenda.
