Represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 4th meeting of leaders of space economy in India.
The two-day meeting is held under the motto “Towards A New Space ERA (Economy, Responsibility, Alliance)”.
Oman’s delegation is led by Communications and Information Technology Undersecretary Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani.
The meeting lays emphasis on the significance of the space sector to the global economy and it focuses on means of consolidating international cooperation in this field. It includes a session with G20 space sector leaders to explore opportunities for cooperation in space projects.
Oman’s participation in the meeting stems from the ministry’s strive to develop and enable the space sector to have an effective role in achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and to serve as an enabler of economic diversification.
Al Shidhani said that the National Digital Economy Programme in Oman gives prominence to the space sector as a target objective of the ministry’s National Centre for Space, Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
Acting in cooperation with local and international partners in the sector, the ministry is embarked on a variety of projects and investment opportunities, including the establishment of an open satellite data platform, a cubic satellite project, an earth station project and a cloud computing project for space data.
