Oman Human Rights Commission Highlights Its Mandate and Operations with UN Delegation

Muscat: The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today highlighted its operational mechanisms, structure, and mandate to a visiting delegation from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). This engagement underscores the OHRC's commitment to transparency and collaboration with international human rights bodies.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting was led by Dr. Rashid Hamad Al Balushi, Chairman of the Oman Human Rights Committee. The delegation from the OHCHR included Johnny Baryougar White, Human Rights Officer at the National Institutions and Regional Mechanisms Section, and Cynthia Radert, Secretary of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation.

The discussions centered around strengthening human rights protection mechanisms and fostering partnerships between the OHRC and various national institutions in the field of human rights. This initiative aims to enhance the effectiveness of human rights practices in Oman and align them with international standards.
