Oman Engages in Global Talks on Development Financing in Seville

Seville: The Sultanate of Oman is actively participating in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which is currently being held in Seville, Spain. The conference is focused on finding ways to support the reform of the international financial structure and addressing various financing challenges.

According to Oman News Agency, the delegation from Oman is led by Sultan Salim Al Habsi, the Minister of Finance, and includes Ahmed Ja’afar Al Musallami, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, along with other officials. The event is an opportunity for Oman to explore new approaches to financing development and innovative mechanisms to support development efforts in emerging countries. These discussions are crucial, especially in light of the economic divide between the global North and South.

The conference aims to reform financing at all levels, with measures supporting the reform of the international financial structure and addressing challenges that hinder investment in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On the sidelines of the conference, participants endorsed the final draft of a charter known as the “Seville Commitment.” This charter is seen as the first step in renewing international efforts to reformulate terms of reference and public policies related to development financing.
