Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, met with Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in Muscat to discuss enhancing economic and investment relations between Oman and Uzbekistan. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for developing economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations.
According to Oman News Agency, the discussions covered opportunities in the fields of investment, industry, and trade, and followed up on outcomes from the Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee. Cooperation in transport, industry, mining, and tourism sectors was also a focal point, alongside potential exchanges of expertise and building strategic partnerships. These efforts aim to diversify income sources and enhance trade exchange, with particular attention on activating partnerships between the public and private sectors.
Further discussions took place between Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority, and Laziz Kudratov. These talks explored prospects for joint work and opportunities aligned with the priorities of both countries. The Uzbek Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including officials and businesspeople, who are set to meet with various Omani officials and company heads in sectors of mutual interest, such as logistics, banking, textiles, and oil and gas.
The meeting was attended by key figures such as Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Abdulsalam Khatmov, the appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman, and Eng. Nasser Khalifa Al Kindi, CEO of "Invest Oman," alongside other officials from both countries.
