Manama, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's ongoing support for democracy through a comprehensive development process that established a state based on institutions and the rule of law. Al Derazi highlighted the efforts of the Government of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting democracy and human rights, ensuring sustainability across sectors. He noted that Bahrain's Constitution, National Action Charter, and related laws offer legal guarantees for a democratic society that applies equally to all. On the International Day of Democracy, themed around AI governance, Al Derazi stressed the NIHR's role in monitoring Bahrain's adherence to international agreements on democracy. He called for efforts to mitigate the risks of AI, particularly its potential to spread misinformation, which could harm democracy and peace.
