Medical Seminar in A’Dakhiliyah Discusses Importance of Pre-Marital Examination

A’dakhiliyah: A symposium on pre-marital medical examination, organized today by the Directorate General of Health Services in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, discussed the Ministry of Health’s strategy aimed at achieving a healthy society with a sustainable health culture where “health is everyone’s responsibility.”

According to Oman News Agency, this event coincides with the national awareness campaign for the pre-marital medical examination program, timed with the mandatory enforcement of the examination set to begin in early 2026. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of pre-marital medical examination as a fundamental preventive step that contributes to forming healthy families free from genetic and infectious diseases. This is achieved through the early detection of genetic blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia, as well as infectious diseases like AIDS, syphilis, and hepatitis.

The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of A’Dakhiliyah.
