Manama: Russian national Andrey Kireitchenko, residing in Bahrain, has secured the top spot in the breath-holding competition for the second consecutive week. This achievement came during the event held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. Kireitchenko set a time of 5.8 minutes, surpassing his previous personal record.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Abdulmalik Dimenang finished in second place with a time of 4.31 minutes, while Mahmood Mohammed Al Jisr took third place, clocking in at 4.26 minutes. The competition attracted 50 participants from various nationalities and a large audience.
The breath-holding competition is among the notable events of the eighth Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season. This season showcases traditional activities such as oyster diving, rowing, fishing, and open-water swimming, emphasizing Bahrain’s maritime heritage and cultural identity.
