Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan exchanged on Thursday their views on regional issues, including responses to North Korea, issues related to China, and the situation in Ukraine, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said.

During their talks in Tokyo, Kishida expressed hope for the continued efforts of Sullivan in further strengthening the Japan-US alliance, the ministry said in a statement.

The premier also voiced his appreciation for the efforts of Sullivan for the success of the Group of Seven (G-7) summit and his summit talks with US President Joe Biden last month in Hiroshima, western Japan.

In response, Biden’s top security adviser said he would like to continue coordination between Japan and the US on a variety of issues facing the international community, according to the ministry.
