Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued two Royal decrees aimed at updating the legal framework for combating cybercrime and amending the Cultural Heritage Law.
According to Oman News Agency, Royal Decree No. (61/2026) enforces new provisions for the Law on Combating Cybercrime. This decree cancels the previous Royal Decree No. 12/2011 and any conflicting regulations, with the new law taking effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
The second decree, Royal Decree No. (62/2026), introduces changes to the Cultural Heritage Law. It mandates that the Minister of Heritage and Tourism, in consultation with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, will issue necessary executive regulations and decisions for implementing the law. These amendments replace Article Two of the previous Royal Decree No. 35/2019, with all changes effective immediately following their publication in the Official Gazette.
