Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkiye convened for an official session of expanded talks at Al Alam Palace, underscoring the robust bilateral relations between their two nations.
According to Oman News Agency, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik extended a warm welcome to President Erdogan and his delegation, expressing pride in the enduring ties between Oman and Turkiye. He emphasized the commitment to advancing their strategic partnership, highlighting the notable progress in commercial and investment relations. The Sultan expressed aspirations to elevate bilateral trade to five billion US dollars and noted recent initiatives such as the removal of entry visa requirements for Turkish citizens, aimed at enhancing tourism and business exchanges.
President Erdogan, in response, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reaffirmed the historical and fraternal bonds between the countries. He highlighted the significance of His Majesty’s previous visit to Turkiye and expressed confidence in further strengthening cooperation. The discussions between the leaders touched on key regional issues, including the Palestinian cause and collaborative efforts to enhance humanitarian and cultural ties.
The session also explored opportunities to boost the Omani-Turkish partnership across various sectors such as investment, trade, energy, and technology. Both leaders discussed regional developments and agreed on the importance of sustaining cultural cooperation to enrich mutual understanding.
