HM The Sultan and King of Spain Commit to Enhancing Economic Ties and Regional Stability


Madrid: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Felipe VI of Spain have reiterated their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and fostering innovation between their nations. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the current investment framework and mutual aspirations to further elevate their economic partnership.

According to Oman News Agency, the joint communique issued during Sultan Haitham’s state visit to Spain highlighted the historic bonds between the royal families and the commitment of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation. The visit, conducted from November 3 to 5, 2025, included discussions with King Felipe VI and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on bilateral and international issues, focusing on advancing peace and stability in conflict regions.

The leaders discussed the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement, which has resulted in a ceasefire, hostage releases, and humanitarian access to Gaza. They appreciated the mediation efforts of the United States, Egypt, Qata
r, and Turkey and emphasized the importance of a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel.

Both sides voiced concerns over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and supported international initiatives for the peace agreement’s full implementation. They stressed the need for urgent humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The discussions also covered diplomatic solutions for resolving disputes, with both leaders agreeing to enhance cooperation on regional and international challenges. On the bilateral front, the visit led to the signing of a Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement and Memoranda of Understanding in cultural, sporting, energy, investment, and agricultural sectors.

The two nations aim to elevate their investment partnership, exploring opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, mining, tourism, AI, energy, and space technology. Discussions were held with representatives from leading Spanish corporations to explore innovative cooperation pathways.
