HM The Sultan Amends Provisions for Oman Botanic Garden

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued Royal Decree No. 44/2026, which amends various provisions of the earlier Royal Decree No. 6/2006 concerning the establishment of the Oman Botanic Garden.

According to Oman News Agency, Article (1) of the new decree states that the texts of Article One and Article Three of Royal Decree No. 6/2006 will be replaced. The amendment designates the area defined in the attached map as a natural reserve named the 'Oman Botanic Garden,' under the authority of Muscat Governorate (Muscat Municipality).

Further, Article Three specifies that the Chairman of Muscat Municipality will have all powers as per the Law on Nature Reserves and Wildlife Conservation, which was promulgated by Royal Decree No. 6/2003. This will include issuing implementing regulations and decisions as part of this decree in consultation with relevant authorities.

Article (2) of the decree mandates its publication in the Official Gazette and its enforcement from the date of issue.
