Muscat: HH Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, today presided over the opening of the conference of the ‘Energy Regulators Regional Association’ (ERRA), held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
According to Oman News Agency, the two-day conference will elaborate on global transformations and mechanisms for investing in clean energy. The programme includes the discussion of 15 working papers during specialized sessions.
The first day of the conference featured four sessions. The opening session addressed norms of energy transition in GCC states, followed by a session on the integration of electricity networks. Subsequent sessions reviewed mechanisms for developing regional energy trade, market integration, and cross-border legislation, while the final session focused on the structure of energy market transition and strategies to accelerate its growth.
On the sidelines of the conference, technical and bilateral meetings were conducted with representatives from regulatory bodies, international organizations, and private sector establishments. These meetings covered various topics including the development of institutional frameworks, enhancement of technical cooperation, exchange of databases and regulations, and exploration of green financing models and regional partnerships in new energy projects.
The conference is being attended by approximately 280 experts representing 50 regulatory bodies, policymakers, private sector establishments, and academics. This event underscores the Sultanate of Oman’s significant position on the global energy map and highlights the growing international confidence in Oman’s regulatory and legislative capabilities and its pioneering role in leading dialogues on sustainable energy use and energy transition.
