Heritage Ministry Signs Contract to Operate, Employ Samail Fort


Samail: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed a contract with Rawafid Samail International Company to manage, operate and employ Samail Fort in the Wilayat of Samail, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. The contract was signed by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Heritage and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rawafid Samail Company.



According to Oman News Agency, the contract aims to maximize the benefits of cultural heritage and enhance its contribution to economic growth. Samail Fort, known for its cultural and heritage value, is a significant historical landmark in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. This initiative is expected to boost tourism by drawing visitors both from the Sultanate of Oman and internationally, spotlighting the private sector’s role in heritage site operations.



The project promises to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for local community members. It also plans to integrate the fort’s surrounding farms in ways that align with the company’s strategy to invigorate the site. Through its management and operation, the fort is anticipated to invigorate the national economy by increasing tourism spending, encouraging entrepreneurial investment in hospitality and related sectors, and enhancing the Wilayat of Samail’s reputation as a cultural destination on the Omani tourism map.
