Global Antimicrobial Resistance Conference to Kick off Tomorrow in Oman

Muscat, Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Taimour bin Asa’ad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) will patronize over the opening ceremony of the 3rd Global High-level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance.

The two-day conference, which is hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, is participated by 30 ministers and representatives of 40 countries in the fields of human health, animal health and the environment.

The conference aims to enhance political commitment to the “One Health” approach in tackling the pandemic of antimicrobial resistance. It also targets highlighting the role of the environment in the spread of antimicrobial resistance and the importance of monitoring and detecting antimicrobial resistance in humans, animals and the environment.

The conference’s agenda include discussion panels between participating ministers and organizations. These panels will cover a spectrum of topics, including the progress made in tackling the antimicrobial resistance pandemic, challenges and opportunities in this field and alleviating the negative impacts of antimicrobial resistance on human health, animals, the economy, growth and international development, among other topics.

The event is considered an opportunity to encourage interactive dialogue on the importance of “Ona Health” action in combating antimicrobial resistance.

The theme of the conference is “The Antimicrobial Resistance Pandemic: from Policy to One Health Action”.
